SteamFlush: vacuum technology for hot-filled products

SteamFlush is SEALPAC’s innovative vacuum technology for thermoformer applications that involve hot-fillled products. By flushing steam over the hot product just before sealing, and by maintaining some air inside the package, an automatic vacuum is created as the product cools down after packaging.

How does SteamFlush work

The SteamFlush system uses a condensation process in which water vapor cools down to create a vacuum. It does not force a vacuum, like in a standard vacuum packaging process, so the quality of the freshly cooked product (e.g. poultry) remains intact. As a result, there is less drip when opening the thermoformer pack.

Stable packaging process

To run the SteamFlush system, a special vacuum pump, steam generator, heater, adapted sealing tool and vacuum tank are required. These ensure that the steam is applied from both sides, which guarantees a stable packaging process.

Benefits at a glance

  • Less drip when opening the thermoformer pack
  • The quality of the freshly cooked product is maintained
  • Fully automated packaging process
  • No need to cool down the product before packaging
  • Excellent shelf life
