How does ThermoSkin® work
The innovative ThermoSkin® packaging solution highlights your products to the maximum. This fully automated vacuum skin packaging system not only convinces due to its efficiency, but also provides a number of other benefits, for example in the area of retail presentation. For example, various easy opening methods are available to increase user friendliness.
Deep vacuum
The thermoformed pack with product is hermetically sealed with a special skin film by means of a deep evacuation process. The film fits the contours of the product without folds or creases. Subsequently, a second top film can be sealed to create an additional head space for extras, even under MAP.
On any standard thermoformer
Instead of requiring a dedicated machine, the sophisticated ThermoSkin® packs are produced on a standard SEALPAC thermoformer with a specific tooling. Depending on machine configuration, products with a maximum protrusion of 45 mm above the sealing edge will be securely packaged.

FAQ about ThermoSkin®
-
How does thermoformer-based skin packaging work?
First, the pack is formed from the bottom film on our thermoformer. After loading the product into the shallow pack, it is hermetically sealed with a special skin film by means of a deep evacuation process. The film fits the contours of the product without folds or creases. What are the differences versus tray skin packaging?
-
What are the differences versus TraySkin® packaging?
TraySkin ® and ThermoSkin® are similar vacuum skin packaging systems. The difference is the type of packaging machine it runs on, either a traysealer or a thermoformer. In case of a traysealer the trays are pre-formed and need to be stored near production, in case of a thermoformer the trays are formed from a bottom film.
-
Which production volumes suit this concept best?
The ThermoSkin® system runs on a standard SEALPAC thermoformer at any speed. As such, ThermoSkin® is suitable for any kind of production volume.
-
What materials can be used?
The ThermoSkin® concept requires a matching bottom film and skin film. Here, the options are endless, including the more demanding mono-films that are becoming more popular due to their recyclability.
-
Does it extend shelf life significantly?
Due to the deep vacuum, the shelf life of fresh food products can be increased significantly.
